Charles, can I ask which FHL record set you used to provide the information to Erin? This may be of use to me as well.

Thanks, Michele

Hi Erin,

I have the St Hubert, Charlevillie, Soltur Familienbuch on CD I've only found the entry for her marriage:

0950 GERHARDT Johann, aus Lothringen
I. LEUTNER Anna Maria, aus Lothringen in Marienfeld
*Marienfeld ..,
H St. Hubert, 11.01.1774 Tz: Peter Gross u. Johann Illi, Marienfeld

To help you a little further I've searched the original Microfilms from that town in the Online FHL Catalog and found a few more Details Indicating that Anna Maria was in fact born in Lothringen, and was residing in Marienfeld at the time of her wedding. In the following transcription I have translated the Latin terms used in the original church record so you can understand what is mentioned in the third row of the marriage list for the year of 1774, which I have attached for you to view:

1774
Mensis: 11. January (Month: January 11)
Sponsus: Joanis Gerhard (Groom/Husband: Johann Gerhardt)
Natus in Lotheringis (Born in Lorraine)
Heufeldensis - (Inhabitant of Heufeld)

Sponsa: Anna Maria Läutnerin - (Bride/Wife: Anna Maria Leutner)
Nata in Lotheringis - (Born in Lorraine)
Mariafeldensis - (Inhabitant of Marienfeld)

Testes: Petrus Gross Heufeldensis (- Witnesses: Peter Gross Inhabitant of Heufeld)
et Joanis Illi Mariafeldensis (and Johann Illi Inhabitant of Marienfeld)
Assistens: Joachim Adam (Assisting: Joachim Adam) - The priest
D: 77 (AN: 77) - Initials Indicate Address Number

I hope these details are useful and may help you explore more about your family origins.

Hi Erin,
I have 2 Heufeld FBs and I do have Leitner and Leutner.  Which ones are you looking for?  I have 1770-1852 and 1895-1944.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for checking. The family lived in Heufeld after their marriage and I have all the details from that FB. I don't think I have checked St. Hubert, which is a good idea. Can you confirm that there were NO Leutner/Leitner entries at all?

Thanks again for your help!

RICK HELI!

I am astounded.
Rick was one of a small handful of interested Banat researchers present at the initial founding of the Banat mailing list more than three decades ago.
If memory serves, Rick participated, along with  Monika Ferrier and others in establishing the Banat Books website.
After a hiatus of more than three decades it is reassuring to hear from Rick.

Re: St. Hubert Lookup

Hi Donald,

It took some searching to locate my source for Anton’s marriage to Theresia WILLAR, but I finally found it in the Heimatbuch for St. Hubert, Charleville & Soltur, by Nikolaus Hess.

Here is a snapshot of the page with the info.  The data is organized by village and house # (the Schwarz family was at Soltur HNr 13), at the top of the page.

Here’s a translation, if you don’t speak German:

Schwarz Anton, [born] 26.07.1889 -shoemaker- died 22.09.1956 in Coburg, West Germany
wife:  Antonia, born Majer, 04.06.1894, - died 30.06.1894 Lünen
daughter:  Barbara, [born] 1921, [living at] 8635 Dörfles being Coburg, Sudetenstrasse 13 (the “8635" is the old format postal code for the town)
Schwarz Anton, [born] 1917, 4628 Lünen, Barbarastrasse 9
wife:  Theresia, born Willar
daughter:  Erna, [born] 1944, - died 1945 in the internment Camp at Charleville

 — it is interesting that the birthdates in the Heimatbuch are off by 1 day - the dates in the family book were taken from the baptism registers.  In some cases, the information in the Heimatbuch was provided by other family members.

Since we don’t have a marriage record for Anton & Theresia Willar, and we don’t know when or where they were married, we cannot know if she is the Theresia WILLAR in the St. Hubert family book.

I hope that gives you an answer.

Best regards,
—Karen

Marienfeld Look-up for LEUTNER/LEITNER #Marienfeld

Erin Kampf

Hello all,

I was hoping someone may have a FB for Marienfeld and could check for LEUTNER or LEITNER families for me.

I am looking for my 5th great grandmother, Anna Maria LEUTNER/LEITNER born about 1750 in Lothringen (Lorraine) or possibly Marienfeld and who was reported to be living in Marienfeld at the time of her marriage in January 1774 in St Hubert to Johann GERHARD(T). I have no further information about her, so cannot provide any parent or sibling names.

Thank you for any help!

Just a quick note... Tis is an excellent read! I would, however, not break the paragraph on page 8 and then continue on page 47. Perhaps this was just a formatting error?

Thanks so much for this awesome work!

Another small correction David. In the email subject, the text of the announcement, and the url it refers to the VII regiment. However the document refers to the XII regiment.
