Free Genealogy on-line Books on The Internet Archive Open Library

Dear List Members.

In consideration of the coronavirus event, the Internet Archive has opened up their collection of on-line genealogy books, which include 224 categories. Each entry in the attached listing has multiple results. In total, the Internet Archive Open Library has 53,916 genealogy-related books.

Usually, there is a limit and waiting period for users to check out digital works; now until June 30th (or the end of the US national emergency, whichever comes later), every borrowable book will be immediately accessible. That is a total of 1.4 million books in their library. In order to gain access, you will ned to set up a free account, and then access to the entire Library is available.

I have attached a PDF to give you an idea of the first page of categories. You can click on the links (if your machine asks if it is OK to open the link, allow it), and once you find something you want to read, just create your login and you are ready to read.

Here is a link to the entire genealogy listing: https://openlibrary.org/search/subjects?q=genealogy&has_fulltext=true&page=1&mode=ebooks and here is the main Internet Archive Open Library link: https://openlibrary.org

Happy exploring and stay safe!

Cheers,
David Preston
